The History of Quantum Paradox

"Remember back when Radiohead was good? yeah, me neither"

lol, anyway: this is how my current band got started

Having first arrived at UMass Lowell in the Fall of 2009, i had just quit my last band "Inimicus" to create a brand new one with the people i met here. Don't get me wrong "Inimicus" was great fun, but with me going to college, and them still in high school, there would be schedule conflicts up the wazoo.

Pretty soon, a friend from Westford, Roger Maillet, and I. got together to start formulating ideas for a band. We brought in my friend Steve Choinski to play drums. I knew Steve played drums because we were in the Marching Band together at UML. The original line up was as follows.

Roger - Guitar/vox
Me - Bass
Steve - Drums

Then comes Spring of 2010:

Before we even scheduled our first practice ever, Steve had to opt out. :( this left the band with a void to fill. Also, Roger claimed that he wanted to only do vocals, as also focusing on an instrument would be difficult. ok, 2 voids. Having been an intern on the Stress Factor, UML's most brutal radio show, I met with a guitarist that I've known from my orientation group, Enzo Albanese. I asked him if he wanted to be part of a punk band i'm starting, and he agreed.

Roger recruited a drummer that was in a band he used to be in himself. The band was Cougar Bait, and the drummer was Chris Cook. Little did i know that Chris Cook, was the Chris that i was getting along with in my Basic Music Theory class that semester. so i practically already knew the guy.
Lineup at this point:

Roger - Vox
Enzo - Guitar
Me - Bass
Chris - Drums

This would be the lineup for our first set of shows, and when we recorded our Demo. By this time, i had written 4 songs that we could play. Watching Stars, Bed Of Nails, Don't Do It, and Hangin In. Also, by this time, i had brought in my friend in Music Business, Stuart Huntington to be our manager. We recorded with Stu's Roommate (SRT major) and we recorded our first demo. It included the 4 songs listed above. Shortly after this however, Roger quit the band to focus on school. Chris went to an old friend of his, an ex-cougar bait singer, and brought him in to QP. Alex De La Cruz would become their vocalist.
Lineup at this point/Lineup Now:

Alex - Vox
Enzo - Guitar
Me - Bass
Chris - Drums

They recently recorded "Nuclear Love EP" and it's going to be released very very soon

Watching Stars - song i Wrote in 2009

Skies change from gray to blue
the day that i met you
opened my eyes to see
there's so much life in me

Sitting in the back of the room
can't take my eyes off you
maybe I need some help
it's like my modern hell

To feel this way about you
my heart can't take your smile

It blows my mind how everyday
i think about you
wipes away my problems
And i feel find even though
im dying in here
need you by my side

I know it sounds cliché
but you'll be mine someday
I'll fight till the ends of this earth
to see you smile

Sit back and watch the stars
from the hoods of broken cars
throw rope, around the moon
and bring it down to you

Seasons can come and go
and it just goes to show
time passes by so fast
it's our job to make it last

Snowtober and Marchvember

Wow Mother Nature, what the hell was that?

Westford got 6-10 inches of snow last Saturday. And Yes, last Saturday was October 29th. I don't think ive ever seen snow in October in my life. At any rate, Saturday night, right after watching Passenger 57, the power went out. "Well, ok, it'll be back in 5-10 minutes" i thought.

Nope.

The power was out until around 1:30 yesterday afternoon. and it was terrible! i spent all my time on South Campus cause they had internet and power. I even showered at the Rec Center on East. -_-

coming home every night last week to a house that was quieter than death itself was equally terrible. No sound, no movement, just 15 candles on the kitchen table.

I feel bad for those still without power. National Grid sucks and they'll get you when they get you.

Soulfest and Marching Band!

Hey! My Blog has a new layout. And this is my first update in almost a year! Wooo! So, what have I been up to?

Well, after last semester ended, i retained my job at D'angelo until about August. I told my boss that i can't work on a Sunday, so she fired me. Unreasonable right? I thought so. Anyway, The reason i couldn't work that Sunday was because of Soulfest! Soulfest is a 4 day Christian Rock festival in Gunstock NH. It Was AWESOME. I saw at least 30 different bands that week. The highlights of that trip have got to be Skillet, Red, Project 86, Switchfoot, and Thousand Foot Krutch. I also have to thank Chris and his family for inviting me. It was so much fun.

After Soulfest, i had to be back in Lowell for Marching Band Camp 2011 :D This is my 3rd year with the UMass Lowell Marching Riverhawks. As you remember, i played Bass 4 Freshman year (Chic Corea), and Drum set sophomore year (Rush). This year, i am again on the drum set, and our show is THE WHO! It's probably the best marching band show ive ever played, im digging all of the music, and the people in the pit are the best friends i'll ever need. Love you guys. SC, MF, ML, EM, PR, JS, MS

I think this is the best year so far at UML. :D i'll keep ya posted!

Later!
