Wow

They really changed the UI of this website. It took me a good 5 minutes to find out where "new post" was. :P

I digress.

Tumblr just could not satisfy my blogging needs (Does such a thing really exist? (I'd like to think so (and now i'm having a conversation with myself))) I figure i should come back to blogspot because it's not as odd and weird as tumblr. Allright. This is my first post in a little under a year. I'm choosing to talk about the latest developments in the video game industry. We'll start with Nintendo. Nintendo is planning to release their latest console title, known as the Wii U. Now, essentially, the Wii U is the successor to the Wii, and supposedly will revolutionize the way console gaming is done. The Wii U's controller will be rather large, and have a screen on it. (Wait, what you just described is a handheld system)

Take a look

Yeah.

And the other peripheral that will come with this console, is the console itself.

According to some notes i read about it, The controller's screen will show things like inventories, or maps of dungeons, etc. and the Screen of your tv will show the game you're playing. Reading further, I read that if someone wants to watch TV while you're playing on your Wii U, they can, and you can resume gameplay on your Controller, without having to worry. This is what confuses me. The fact that, at one point, the controller's screen would show maps and inventories. But then someone changes the channel, and now your entire game is in your hand? What?

My other gripe with it, is the fact that it is also being released after the 3DS.

The 3DS, Nintendo's latest release in the handheld market, has, and still is revolutionized/revolutionizing the way handheld games are played. I mean, c'mon, they mastered the art of 3D without the need for glasses. And do not go into that BS about how it's not 3D it's just increased depth perception. Last i checked, increased depth perception = 3D.

They mastered that art so well, I confidently felt that Nintendo could just rake in the dough from marketing that one system. Granted, the 3DS hasn't wow'd the community as much as it should be wowing them. They have yet to find that one breakthrough game. They almost hit it with Ocarina of Time, but it was reaching.

Bottom line is this: the 3DS is great, and it is Nintendo's 1 step forward in the gaming industry. They should focus on making it the best it can be. Releasing the Wii U will be their 2 steps back.

I'm interested in hearing what you guys have to say, so leave a comment.

Peace
